BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:聽This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR), Office of the Taxpayer Advocate. The incumbent is responsible for assisting taxpayers with resolving unusual, complex or urgent matters related to District individual income, real property, and business taxes. Duties include, but are not limited to: providing assistance to citizens, tax and legal professionals, and government representatives regarding business, individual income, real property taxes, fees and a broad range of technical tax information; researching the District of Columbia tax codes, regulations, policies, tax forms and publications to educate taxpayers on their rights and responsibilities in fulfilling their tax obligations; performing a variety of duties and responsibilities related to complex tax issues, focused on providing excellent customer service in the final resolution of taxes; providing technical guidance and assistance to the taxpayer with regards to income tax preparation, business tax liabilities, filings and regulations processes and liability determination; and assisting customers and tax practitioners with complex tax inquiries, preparing case files, determining tax types and liabilities, and recommending proper resolution. Performs other related duties as assigned.
