To become a lawyer in Romania you complete a four-year law degree (licenta in drept) from an accredited university. You then pass the bar-admission exam organized by the National Union of Bar Associations of Romania (UNBR) through the INPPA, which admits you as a trainee lawyer (avocat stagiar). You serve a two-year supervised traineeship and then pass a completion exam to become a fully qualified lawyer (avocat definitiv). You must be registered with a local bar belonging to UNBR to practise.
