To become a lawyer in Taiwan you complete an undergraduate law degree (typically four years) and then pass the Attorney Qualification Examination administered by the Examination Yuan, which has a famously low pass rate. After passing, you must complete the required new-admittee training of around six months, including one month of basic training at the Taiwan Bar Association and a five-month internship at a law firm or the Legal Aid Foundation. You then join a local bar association, which is required before you may practise. The Taiwan Bar Association is the overarching national professional body.
The Taiwan Bar Association (TWBA) is the national professional body; lawyers must also belong to a local bar association to practise. The Examination Yuan, through the Ministry of Examination (MOEX), administers the qualifying examination.
