Job Description

Position Summary

The Logistics Trade Compliance Sr Analyst is responsible for executing and coordinating key operational trade compliance activities while providing guidance to cross-functional partners on import/export compliance requirements, documentation standards, and process expectations. This role supports the Trade Compliance Team by independently managing recurring compliance routines, maintaining import/export documentation, monitoring compliance activities, supporting internal controls and audit readiness requirements, and coordinating with Logistics, Customs Brokers, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders.

This role supports global trade compliance programs by maintaining compliance records, monitoring import/export transactions, tracking compliance activities, compiling reporting, supporting government agency requirements, and helping ensure adherence to applicable customs, trade, transportation security, and regulatory requirements.

The role combines operational trade compliance execution with process governance, internal controls support, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure logistics and trade compliance processes are performed in a compliant, controlled, and repeatable manner.

 

Specialty Focus: This role supports logistics standards, best practices, and internal controls governance. Assists with global trade compliance support activities, including broker governance documentation, import/export recordkeeping, audit support, and tracking of compliance-related follow-ups.

 

Core Responsibilities: Process Analyst (≈60%)

 

Execution & Operating Routines

  • Executes standard work and recurring routines (daily/weekly/monthly) that support logistics performance management and controls compliance.
  • Tracks open actions, due dates, and owners; escalates aging items and supports closure documentation.
  • Coordinates meeting materials (agendas, pre-reads, notes, action logs) for operating reviews, controls checkpoints, and audit readiness touchpoints.
  • Supports issue triage by gathering facts, documenting problem statements, and routing items to the appropriate process owner for resolution.

 

Reporting & Data Support

  • Builds and maintains routine reports and trackers (service, quality, inventory, claims, access reviews, controls evidence status) using spreadsheets and available system outputs.
  • Validates data completeness and flags anomalies; coordinates corrections with system/process owners.
  • Compiles monthly/quarterly KPI and controls reporting packs; ensures consistent formatting, definitions, and version control.

 

Documentation & Training Support

  • Maintains process documentation (SOPs, narratives, job aids, RACI/hand-offs, checklists) by incorporating approved changes and confirming document owners, effective dates, and storage locations.
  • Supports training deployment by preparing materials, tracking completion, and organizing refresher sessions as requested by process owners.
  • Ensures operating procedures and control steps are communicated consistently to impacted teams and third parties (as applicable).

 

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinates requests and follow-ups across Logistics, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Internal Audit, IT Security, and third-party partners to obtain timely inputs and evidence.
  • Supports communications to stakeholders by drafting updates, summarizing status, and preparing clear issue/evidence logs.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and matrix influence across internal and external stakeholders

 

Role-Specific Responsibilities:  (≈40%)

Import & Export Compliance Operations

  • Supports import and export compliance activities by coordinating with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliant movement of goods.
  • Reviews import and export transaction documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with applicable customs and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates responses to customs brokers, government agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment documentation, clearance issues, and compliance inquiries.
  • Supports the preparation and maintenance of import/export documentation required Customs and other participating government agencies, such as FDA, TTB, USDA, or other applicable agencies
  • Customs Compliance & Broker Governance
  • Supports customs entry audit activities by reviewing country of origin, tariff classification, valuation, duty calculations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. import regulations, including HTS classification, country of origin, assists, recordkeeping, free trade agreements, special trade programs, and Partner Government Agency requirements.
  • Supports broker governance activities through KPI tracking, issue management, compliance reviews, and performance reporting.
  • Tracks customs compliance issues, corrective actions, and follow-up activities to support timely resolution and risk mitigation.

Recordkeeping, Audit & Regulatory Support

  • Maintains import and export records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory retention requirements.
  • Supports internal and external trade compliance audits, assessments, and government agency reviews by coordinating documentation requests and gathering supporting evidence.
  • Organizes and maintains audit-ready compliance documentation, ensuring version control, traceability, and accessibility of records.
  • Assists with compliance reporting, controls testing, and remediation tracking activities as required.

Trade Programs & Security Compliance

  • Supports C-TPAT and transportation security activities, including evidence collection, documentation maintenance, self-assessment support, and coordination of corrective actions.
  • Assists with administration of trade compliance programs including duty drawback, free trade agreements, and other customs-related initiatives, as applicable.
  • Supports periodic compliance reviews and monitoring activities to identify potential risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Reporting, Analytics & Continuous Improvement

  • Develops and maintains trade compliance metrics, dashboards, reports, and action trackers used to monitor compliance performance and operational effectiveness.
  • Performs compliance-related research and analysis to support interpretation of trade regulations and application of requirements to business processes.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and automation within trade compliance operations.
  • Updates SOPs, job aids, procedural documentation, and training materials to reflect approved process and regulatory changes.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications (Core)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, international logistics, import/export operations, internal controls, or a related compliance function.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transportation providers, suppliers, and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to organize evidence, maintain trackers, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in spreadsheets and basic data analysis; comfortable working with reports extracted from ERP/WMS/Shipment Visibility TMS tools.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating audits and/or internal controls testing and evidence management.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transportation providers, or government agency requirements.
  • Experience with C-TPAT, drawback, or more specialized trade programs
  • Familiarity with tariff classification, country of origin determination, valuation, duty management, or import/export documentation.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes (replenishment planning, warehousing, fulfillment, transportation, claims/damages, Distributor/Customs) and common system transactions.
  • Experience coordinating access reviews and/or segregation of duties activities for business applications.

 

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and work on a computer; occasional lifting may be required.
  • Field/onsite visits, warehouse/transportation facility walk-throughs, or audit support may be required; travel as needed.

The salary range for this role is:

$58,800.00 - $102,100.00

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
