To become a lawyer in Lebanon, you generally need Lebanese citizenship and a Lebanese law degree. You register as a trainee lawyer with either the Beirut or Tripoli Bar Association (after passing the affiliation exam for the trainee roll). You then complete a three-year traineeship at the office of a practising attorney. During and at the end of the traineeship you must pass the Bar's annual written and oral examinations (pass mark at least 50/100), after which you are admitted to the General Roll and entitled to practise before the Lebanese courts.
The Beirut Bar Association and the Tripoli Bar Association regulate and admit lawyers in their respective regions; the Ministry of Justice provides the wider justice-sector framework.
